谭燕保，博士，教授，硕士研究生导师，外国语学院院长、湖北省翻译协会副会长、湖北省比较文学学会副会长；本科毕业于四川大学外文系,博士毕业于武汉大学比较文学与世界文学专业. 2004、2013年曾分别赴英国、美国进修访学；主要研究方向：比较文学与世界文学、英语教育；曾出版专著1部、译著1部；主编、参编教材7部，主持省部级课题6项，获中国纺织工业协会教育教学成果三等奖，发表论文50余篇，主讲“西方文明史”、“英语写作”，“中国语言文化” “翻译批评与实践” ，“中英语言文化比较”等课程。

Tan Yanbao has been at WTU since 1991. She became the Dean of School of Foreign Languages at WTU on April 13, 2018. Since 2009, she has been a professor of English in English department. She holds a B A from Sichuan University, a M A from Huazhong Normal University, a ph. D in Comparative Literature from Wuhan University. She studied in Chichester University College of Great Britain in 2004. After winning a scholarship of CSC in 2011, she became a visiting scholar in University of Central Florida for 6 months. She has received various awards for her scholarship and teaching including the “Teaching Achievements” Prize from China Textile Association etc. Her early research interest covers English Education. Now she turns to Comparative Literature and translation. She has presided 6 research projects. Major publications include 2 books, 7 textbooks and 50 research papers. She teaches “History of Western Civilization”,“English Writing”，Chinese Language and Culture”, “Translation Criticism and Practice”,“Comparison and Contrast Between English and Chinese” etc.
